‘F***ing genius’ John Cooper Clarke
‘This is proper, visceral stuff. Poetry for the rest of us. Long live The Firm’ Luke Wright
A Firm of Poets tend to catch people out. They perform spoken word – sometimes for as long as an hour at a time – and people who thought that they instinctively disliked poetry, actually end up enjoying it.
Last year’s 22-date national tour, Ossett Observer presents: The People’s Republic of Poetry, saw The Firm establish themselves as a nationally recognised spoken word organisation.
Festival highlights include the likes of Latitude, Musicport and Beacons, and guest poets have included Luke Wright, Zena Edwards and Helen Mort.
Sitting in a row of chairs on stage, they step up to the mic to deliver one poem each at a time; making for a quick-fire, engaging and unpredictable set, which perfectly captures their accessible and entertaining style.
